Kyrie Irving says Cavs are ‘in a peculiar place.’ Here’s what he might mean

Kyrie Irving has recently asked the Cavs for a trade, according to a report that came out Friday afternoon.

The Cavaliers aren’t in the best place heading into the 2017-18 season, and Kyrie Irving knows it.

“It’s fun right now in the East,” said Coach Curt Miller. “There are a lot of young faces in this league that are poised to be the faces of the future, and a lot of those reside in the East. Really excited to be a part of that.”

Finally, Seattle’s sweetheart, Bird, posted 11 assists—meaning she now adds the record for most assists in an all-star game to her already dazzling resume.

While it’s easy to chalk today’s game up to the timeless theme of experience vs. youth, this game represented much more of a passing of the torch and a lens into the future than it did a battle for bragging rights between bitter rivals.

The veterans of the West, undoubtedly, relished the chance Cheap Hats And Jerseys to give their younger counterparts in the East a lesson in the law, but Cheap Hockey Jerseys For Sale it also gave them a rare opportunity to impart the legacy—on and off the basketball court—that they are relying on these next-gen stars to carry on in their absence down the road.

Simmons broke out at the most opportune time for a championship organization last season, averaging 13 points in the second round against the Rockets and 15 points in the conference finals against the Warriors.

Simmons, who will be 28 when the season starts, is older for a third-year guard, but he showed he’s just entering his prime as a slashing guard for the Spurs last season. San Antonio may match any offer sheet he’s signed to, as long as it’s not egregious.

Caleb Swanigan’s ‘balls to the walls’ ethos has Blazers coaches comparing him to Draymond Green

When Caleb Swanigan was growing up, bouncing between Utah and Indiana, he wanted to model his game after players like Kobe Bryant, Russell Westbrook, and Dennis Rodman — players who had the mentality to win every possession and left everything on the floor.

But Portland’s Summer League coach Jim Moran has a different comp in mind for the versatile 6’9” big man with ranging skill sets on both ends: Draymond Green.

No, Swanigan is not the NBA’s reigning Defensive Player of the Year. He’s not the most versatile defender in the history of the NBA, nor is he a game-changing playmaker capable of running an NBA offense on his own.

Not yet.

But what he is is a relentless rebounder with a workhorse motor — “balls to the wall” is what he calls it. It’s how he made a name for himself, averaging more than 12 boards per game to win Big Ten Player of the Year at Purdue last season. And time after time during the Trail Blazers’ matchup against the Spurs on Tuesday, he showed he’s much more than an elite glass cleaner.

It reminds you of The Creation of Adam, and the chaos behind Nerlens Noel is just so typical of a baroque-era painting. I tweeted it, expecting it to amuse maybe 20 people enough for them to “like” it. Instead, as of post time, almost 900 people chose to click that heart.

Clearly, the internet wants more sports photos that look like Cheap Football Practice Jerseys renaissance paintings. I polled SB Nation’s staff, and here’s what we came up with.

SB Nation social producer Mark Hinog suggested Cheap Girls Softball Jerseys John Daly celebrating a win while a streaker does his thing behind him.

Any time your immediate competition adds a superstar and you do nothing in response, that’s a loss.

Are the Celtics favorites to beat the Cavaliers in a seven-game series? That’s a negative. But the series will be infinitely more competitive than last year’s five-game dispatch of Boston in the conference finals. And if you’re a Cleveland team playing for a championship, the last thing you want to do is spend energy beating a conference foe.

They’re going to need that energy to avoid getting swept by the Warriors, anyway.

Because Ball is the talk of the basketball world. From his quirky jumper to the shoes he wears, everyone eats up Ball content. (Our traffic confirms this). Ball’s second game against the Celtics was the first sellout in Summer League’s history. Plus, he’s a Laker. That sells anywhere.

We still don’t know what the right price is for the Ball family. Maybe Big Baller Brand is still seeking a partnership. Maybe Ball will settle for a bigger endorsement deal. Maybe it’s still $1 billion for the family. It could still be outrageous.

But as this process has continues, Ball’s popularity has only continued to rise. Nike, Under Armour, and Adidas will have to at least take a peak to see if the Ball family’s ask is in the ballpark. It would be irresponsible not to.

Many are overreacting to Ball’s summer league performances, but that actually gives the companies even more reason to invest in Ball. If he drives this much interest Cheap NFL Jerseys Nike during Cheap Authentic Jerseys From China Summer League, the intensity will only increase in the regular season. If the Lakers make the playoffs — a humongous, very unlikely if this year — Staples Center may explode.

Rob Manfred wonders if the bats are causing all those homers

Listen, we know it’s tough to catch up on everything happening in the baseball world each morning. The Rockies and D-Backs have a better record than every non-Dodgers team this season except for Astros (71-40) and the Nationals (66-44). They’re percentage points ahead of the AL East-leading Red Sox. Arizona, holder of the second wild card thanks to Colorado’s half-game lead, is 5.5 up on the Brewers, who are next in line for the postseason spot. The Blue Jays are five games back of the second AL wild card, the Tigers six back, and they have six and seven teams ahead in between them, respectively.

Neither Colorado nor Arizona has been dominant like the Dodgers, but with the way things are going, you might be able to say that about all but a few teams in the history of the game when 2017 is over. Still, the Rockies are succeeding despite negative contributions from key players like Carlos Gonzalez and Trevor Story, while the D-Backs have quietly scored 114 more runs than they’ve allowed and should have the second-best record in the NL based on that differential.

At the same time the NL is giving us much of the same — the Nats, Cubs, and Cheap Custom Jerseys Dodgers are all potentially headed to the playoffs again — we’re also getting the Rockies and D-Backs. And the Wholesale Jerseys Cheap Brewers, just 1.5 back of the Cubs, still have a great chance of making it three new postseason teams come October.

Every day is dinger day in MLB, but there’s only one Home Run Derby

Happy Home Run Derby day, y’all! Sure, we see homers constantly in our day-to-day lives, at least from April through October, but something about the Derby is different. And this holds true even in today’s game, where we’ve had multiple studies in the past few weeks saying that the baseballs are different and causing more homers more often, even forcing a response from Major League Baseball on the subject.

What no one in Los Angeles wants to think about right now is that neither of the Mariners or Cubs won the World Series in their respective record years, and Seattle didn’t even make it to the Fall Classic before being eliminated.

That’s not to say Devers is going to go Miguel Cabrera on AL pitching or anything, but it’s a reminder that making room for a bat in the lineup, glove be damned, is something Dombrowski has been willing to do in the past if he thinks that the overall outcome is a positive.

The good news for the Nationals is that they just filled two spots in their bullpen with one trade, nabbing Ryan Madson and Sean Doolittle for Blake Treinen and last year’s second- and third-round picks. The two relievers have combined for 70 strikeouts and eight walks in 60 innings, which vaults them immediately Cheap Bruins Jerseys to the top of the bullpen depth chart. And, considering that the trade didn’t devastate their farm Cheap Blank Hockey Jerseys system, they can still afford to make another deal.

The A’s are going to trade Sonny Gray

The Athletics are going to trade Sonny Gray, and the only question left at this stage is about which team he’ll be traded to. The non-waiver trade deadline is less than two weeks away, so we know whatever the move is, it’ll happen soon. It would probably be easier to figure out which team is the most likely one to get Gray if a fifth of the league wasn’t linked to him, though.

ESPN’s Buster Olney lists the Brewers, Cubs, Braves, Indians, Astros, and Yankees as potential suitors for Gray, who Olney wrote about first in his column of players who will — emphasis his — be traded. Bob Nightengale reports that the Brewers “may be the most aggressive team pursuing Gray,” which makes sense given they’re trying to fend off the defending champion Cubs and are in desperate need of another starter given injuries to Chase Anderson and Junior Guerra.

However, though the Korean Baseball Organization sometimes has trouble matching MLB in talent, it has never had trouble beating the league in (whispers so former players can’t hear) fun. MLB could always use some more of it, and maybe that means borrowing from some of the competitions that wrapped up on Saturday in Daegu, South Korea.

The story of the Nationals before the season was “great roster, suspect Cheap Authentic NBA Jerseys bullpen.” It wasn’t a secret. And this season has been a tale of a great roster and a suspect bullpen. While Cheap Baseball Jerseys that seems like a sad tale, it’s not.

MLB trade news: Cubs deal top prospect for Tigers’ Alex Avila, Justin Wilson

Tigers general manager Al Avila has finalized a trade that will send his own son to the Cubs along with reliever Justin Wilson.

The Tigers announced Monday they have dealt Alex Avila and Wilson to Chicago for prized minor league third baseman Jeimer Candelario, shortstop Isaac Paredes and a player to be named or cash.

That turned out to be a good decision.

He would go on to play 19 seasons in the majors beginning in 1970, most notably with the Orioles and Angels, a power-hitter known for crowding the plate and daring pitchers to come inside. They frequently obliged, leading to his being hit by pitches a then-record 267 times and leading the league in HBPs eight times.

Baylor won the 1979 AL MVP award while with the Angels after leading the league with 139 RBIs and 120 runs, the same year he earned his one All-Star Game appearance.

He also played for the A’s, Yankees, Twins and Red Sox. A three-time Silver Slugger, he batted .260 for his career, hitting 338 home runs and driving in 1,276 runs. He was part of the Twins’ 1987 World Series-winning team, batting .385/.467/.615 in a five-game series victory over the Cardinals.

After his playing career, he became the first manager in the Rockies history, going 440-469 from 1993-98. He also managed the Cubs from 2000-02, going 187-220.

Just look at some of the starters around the league today: 2015 AL MVP Josh Donaldson Houston Texans Cheap Jerseys posted a 154 wRC+ during that 2015 campaign, and followed it up with a 155 wRC+ in 2016.

Travis Shaw is having a breakout season with the Brewers after being traded from Jerseys Supply the Red Sox during the offseason, and could finish with a 5.0 WAR or higher. Anthony Rendon is posting an OPS of .996 with the Nationals in 2017. It seems like All-Star caliber third basemen are everywhere.

MLB trade tracker: Every deal completed by July 31 deadline

MLB teams produced a flurry of trades as the second half of the season got underway in mid-July. The final dominoes fell Monday as several big-name pitchers changed teams in the afternoon.

Below are all the reported deals leading up to and including the trade deadline. SN’s Ryan Fagan has commentary on Monday’s activity.

Kintzler joins the Nationals as the team looks to make a push straighten out its bullpen in the second half. Kintzler recorded 28 saves with a 2.78 ERA for the Twins this season.

Analysis: The Diamondbacks added to their bullpen by bringing back Hernandez, who pitched for Arizona from 2010-15. With the Angels this season, Hernandez, 32, boasted a 2.23 ERA in 36 1/3 innings.

Niekro served his suspension and returned to the Twins just in time for Minnesota’s stretch run. He finished the season 7-13 with a 5.33 ERA.

But all ended well in ’87 for Niekro and the Twins, who defeated the Cardinals in the World Series. Niekro pitched two shutout innings in relief in Game 4, presumably with nothing in his pocket. He appeared in five games in 1988 before calling it a career.

Lest the 1987 emery board incident define Niekro to younger fans, it should be noted that he enjoyed a long and successful career, winning 221 games over 22 seasons — including two 20-win seasons Make Cheap Jerseys Online and an All-Star appearance in 1979 — and accumulating 29.9 career bWAR.

“I didn’t send him a Christmas card for a few years (after the home run), but I really miss that guy,” Phil Niekro said of his brother, who died in 2006. “I want people to Kids Cheap Jerseys remember Joe as a hell of a guy who was full of fun and life. If you didn’t have a good time around him, it was your own fault.”

Mets fail to trade Asdrubal Cabrera, promote top prospect Amed Rosario anyway

The wait is over, the second-best prospect in baseball is heading to MLB.

The Mets are calling up 21-year-old shortstop Amed Rosario to make his major-league debut on Tuesday against the Rockies, general manger Sandy Alderson announced Monday.

Rosario was batting .328/.367/.466 with seven homers and 19 steals in 94 games with Triple-A Las Vegas. His promotion and the failure to trade infielder Asdrubal Cabrera before Monday’s trade deadline could lead to the Mets making revocable trade waiver deals in August.

Despite battling injury issues in recent seasons, Gray, 27, remains an intriguing top-of-the-rotation prospects. An All-Star in 2015, when he went 14-7 with a 2.73 ERA, Gray struggled last season, finishing with an ugly 5.69 ERA.

After missing the first month of this season with a strained lat, Gray is 6-5 with a 3.43 ERA in 16 starts. He has been a bit inconsistent in 2017, but he has allowed just six earned runs in his last 39 1/3 innings.

The Yankees currently hold a half-game lead over the Red Sox in the American League East. Sunday, the Yankees acquired starting pitcher Jaime Garcia from the Twins, who had just picked him up from the Braves.

With Gray and Garcia on board, the Yankees have plenty of depth and talent behind Luis Severino, Masahiro Tanaka and CC Sabathia.

As for the prospects they surrendered in return, Fowler and Kaprielian are MLB Jerseys China currently injured. Heading into 2017, Baseball America rated all three minor leaguers New Cheap Jerseys among the Yankees’ top 10 prospects — Mateo at No. 4, Kaprielian at No. 5 and Fowler at No. 9.

Hall of Famers Ivan Rodriguez, Tim Raines salute Adrian Beltre for 3,000th hit

Some days, the timing of baseball is almost unbelievable.

Sunday was one of those days. Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre has been churning toward his 3,000th career hit for quite a while, and it’s possible he could have reached the milestone — which is essentially a guaranteed ticket to the Hall of Fame — a day earlier.

One more grounder could have skipped under a fielder’s glove. One more blooper could have found a clean spot on the outfield grass. Or maybe a look-at-me umpire might not have thrown him out of a game last week for moving the on-deck circle.

But none of those things happened. Beltre’s 3,000th hit came on a line-drive double down the third-base line shortly after 4:30 p.m. ET, at home in front of an adoring crowd.

The hit came mere minutes after another Texas baseball legend, Ivan “Pudge” Rodriguez, finished an emotional and amusing Hall of Fame induction speech.

Rodriguez continued: “He’s a great man. He deserves that and many more. He works hard for it. What he’s done for baseball is unbelievable, on and off the field, with his leadership in the clubhouse and with his teammates, and the way he plays the game on the field for nine innings. The thing is, it’s not going to be his last game. He still has a lot left in his career.”

The main argument against going with technology over the umpire is how the strike zone is set, batter to batter and pitch to pitch. This is where subjectivity comes into play on both ends. While an umpire is more likely to miss a pitch or be fooled by a catcher with excellent framing The Best Cheap Jerseys skills, a machine is more likely to have the zone slightly out of place. Gameday stringers do the best they can to mark the zone on a screen for each batter, but players tend to move while in the the batter’s box. In USA Cheap Jerseys the end, you can’t avoid some level of the human element.
